Home Secretary in Brighton on crime reduction visit

David Lepper, MP for Brighton Pavilion, accompanied home secretary Alan Johnson when he visited North Laine with Brighton & Hove Business crime reduction manager Lisa Perretta. The visit was organised by the Business Crime Reduction Partnership so that the Home Secretary could speak to BCRP members to hear how the scheme was helping them to combat crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

In Bond Street the Home Secretary met business owners who benefited from BCRP membership. He also met the Business Improvement District (BID) on-street security patrol and officers from Sussex Police and Community Support staff.

David Lepper said, "It was good that the Home Secretary got to hear at first hand about the Partnership's work and about the importance of the BID. All of the partnership working is helping to make the city centre safer. I know that he was impressed buy all he saw and heard".

David Lepper MP is a former chair of the City Centre Business Forum and chaired the national steering committee for the first 20 BIDS pilot schemes. He is a life member of the Association of Town Centre Management.
